                                         How Are you?

As you see this mail, you are either one of our direct friends or a friend of a friend.

We wanted to check in with you – how are you?

Do you feel similar to the way we feel?

For many months, we have been quite tired and no sleep seems to bring back enough energy.

We feel overwhelmed by the news, and are troubled by the pictures we see on the screens every single day.

In the face of wars and an incomprehensible amount of suffering that we watch from a distance, it's difficult not to give up. Sometimes we just want to close our eyes and focus only on what is right around us. But, looking away would not help the countless people who are caught between the fire.

But what can we do? Too often, we feel small and think we can't make a difference.

Trust me:

Each one of us matters! We all have some (small or big) degree of power and can influence what is going on around us and in the world.

Each one of us has a voice! When we use our voices together, we are heard.

Each one of us can bring some efforts forth! When we all use our efforts together can literally move mountains.

We approach you as we would like to make a change for people in Gaza.

For many months, television and news outlets have shown us pictures that are difficult to comprehend. 80% of Gaza's infrastructure is destroyed, and the estimated 50.000 deaths are considered a stark underestimation.

The reported number of child- amputees has never been seen anywhere else in modern history, and nearly no hospital is functioning anymore. Currently all of Gaza’s 2.1 million population is starving as aid is not allowed in to the amount needed.

In all of this, we would like to be part of the solution, and invite you to join us!

We are in contact with some people in Gaza- who need help, our help!

This is why we created this newsletter. We will reach out regularly to share opportunities on ways to support Gazans in need.

This is how we make this world a better place- one person at a time.

Thank you for being part of the solution!

Today, we want to introduce Darin to you.

Help us support Darin-

A pharmacology student

Darin is a 21-year-old girl who lives in northern Gaza. She is part of a family of 6: Father Mohammad (55), mother Suzan (45), siblings Omar (23), Hadeel (17), and Karim (11).

The family experienced everything we hear about in the news: displacement, had to live in tents in crowded areas, and didn’t have anything but what they were able to carry.

They live under the constant sound of helicopters, drones, and bombs, not knowing if they will be hit next. As many people in Gaza, they lost beloved relatives, and countless friends who were killed, memed, or disappeared with a high chance that they are dead.

On their return to their home, the family found it completely destroyed, with nothing left of the life they used to have. The family was lucky that some relatives opened their doors and sheltered them amid the ruins around them.

But starvation is everywhere- the little food that is available on the market is expensive beyond imagination. Recently 1 kg of flour costs 300 USD due to the weeks-long total blockade of food and aid.

In all of the horrors of the war and the struggle for survival- Darin is a student. She is in the 3 year in university to become a pharmacist. The classes are online now, as the universities are destroyed. To accommodate for the difficult situation the enrolment fee went significantly down- recognizting that als the teachers need money to survive.

For Darin to continue her studies, she needs $500 USD for the next term. In addition to the student fees Darin and her family need money to buy food.

For several months Darin and we are in communication and she kept on telling  us how difficult life is. She feels like being in a prison- waiting to die.

A few days ago, Darin told me that she is trying to leave Gaza together with her family. While she found a few sponsors, the costs for paperwork and the actual transfer are horrendous.

Our contribution will help Darin and her family to leave Gaza, have food to survive, and allow Darin to continue her studies.

Thank you !
