FAQ

How do I know that the money reached Gaza and what it was used for?

We use the monthly newsletter and regular website updates to inform you how the money supported the friends, their families and local initiatives in Gaza. As the needs in Gaza are overwhelming, we don’t ask them to provide us with detailed information on how they used the money. The people in Gaza know best what they need to survive, and we enable them to make these daily choices.

Does my donation make a difference to someone in Gaza?

Yes! Every amount is welcome and makes a significant difference in the lives of people in Gaza. We are a small organisation run entirely by volunteers. This means that >98% of your donations go directly to the friends in Gaza, as nearly all Bank transaction fees and operational costs are covered by Luna.

With a 100 USD donation, what can you buy in Gaza right now?

The sad truth is- not much!

The prices of items on the market fluctuate significantly, depending on current needs and whether aid trucks have reached Gaza. As examples, in August 2025, potatoes were sold at $ 35 USD / kg in southern Gaza, and Lentils at $ 15/ kg. As people have to pay in cash, the amount of money needed is skyrocketing. From the collected donations, a 2.2-2.9% fee is subtracted if the transaction was made by credit card. Depending on the involved banks, either the donor or we pay the transaction fees. From there, we send it through the Bank of Palestine with a 9 % commission directly to contacts in Gaza. Local dealers transfer the digital funds into the required cash, charging a commission of 32-40% depending on the daily market rate.

This means that in the best-case scenario, from the $ 100 USD we receive on our account, $ 91 USD reaches Gaza, and approximately $ 60 USD in cash goes into the hands of the friend, enabling them to buy 1.8 kg of potatoes for a family of around 10 members.

How much money in donations do people need to comply with the latest evacuation order?

Following the latest evacuation orders, people needed a lot of money before they could leave the increasingly dangerous area in the north of Gaza.

Beginning in September 2025, tents and spaces to pitch those were scarce, and costs increased exponentially.

Is Healing for Humnanity. World a registered charity?

Not yet. While it is our plan to register this organisation as a charity in the Netherlands, we have decided to focus our initial efforts and available funds on supporting the acute needs in Gaza and making a positive impact on people’s lives. The charity registration process is administratively time-consuming, and is estimated to cost a couple of 1000 euros, which we want to spend on relief efforts at the moment. We will inform you when Healing for Humanity. World is a registered charity, which we aim to achieve within the coming year.
